A Valediction

At the turn of the tides of the sands of the world

which we kissed into being on Earth,

we have come now at last to the end of the age

of sweet ignorance, fully alive.

There is no time to speak, for the clock travels fast

and brings new, shining eyes into birth,

leaving traces, mere seconds, to revel in life

and for friendship to blossom and thrive.

So let’s stand in embrace just a lifetime or two,

just a slow, solemn turn of the page,

til our hands touch no more and the moments crash through

to begin one more sweet silver age.
