“In my lifetime, there have been three popes. We know the legacy of two of them, one has just begun. The first pope was a fan overflowing with charisma, bringing the joy of Christ around the world. As his life ebbed away, he showed us all the intense love we find uniting our suffering with Christ. The second, a gifted and quiet evangelist by word, a defender of the faith who may someday be up for consideration as a Doctor of the Church. His abdication showed us all how to humbly go forth, knowing that Our Lord has taken all that we have to give in that capacity and that we must find another way to serve Him. From what I can tell of the third, it seems that we will be reminded very soon of what it means to evangelize through humble service. And while he stirs up Catholics all around the world to live, breathe, and profess the faith, he will unite us all.”

Well, I was going to expand on this brilliant insight by my friend Joe Bender, but it very much speaks for itself I believe.

Let us give thanks to God for such incredible Popes and pray for our new Holy Father.
